Which grow lights are mostly used in the grow tents in hydropronic systems? 2019 Updated

Types of Grow light for Hydroponics

Gone are the days where rich soil and continuous water support system is needed to get plants. The messy dark soil makes a mess and the regulation of nutrients constantly having to add manure of change planting space is a real headache. Gardening and home decor plants can have an alternative for the supply of nutrients which involves the use of hydroponics.

Hydroponics is basically a way of growing plants without the use of soil and instead trade for water solution enriched with nutrients and mineral elements sufficient enough for plant rapid growth. With indoor hydroponics, a source of light is vital and important to provide to facilitate photosynthesis. Hence the use and need for grow light. There are the different type of grow light for hydroponics. High-Intensity Discharge Grow Lights, Compact Fluorescent Light and LED Grow Light.

HID Grow Lights

Pros: Full spectrum, can be used for both flowering and vegetative growth, very powerful lights.
Cons: Bulbs wear out quickly, uses a lot of electricity, high heat output requires fans.

Fluorescent Grow Lights

Pros: Low heat, relatively energy efficient, inexpensive, good for green leaf plants like lettuce, spinach and herbs.
Cons: Not good for flowering or fruit producing plants, not full spectrum nor very powerful.

LED Grow Lights

Pros: Very low heat, red and blue LEDs can be combined to create full spectrum or partial spectrum lighting, bulbs last a very long time, customizable for small or large gardens, very energy efficient
Cons: Expensive to purchase up front although they save money on energy costs.

Choosing the Right Light
There are many factors to consider when purchasing a grow light. The primary factors that you will need to consider are your budget, enclosure type & size, plant type, and ventilation.

Your budget is a primary factor when choosing the right kind of light. Low-budget growers are better off with fluorescent tubes, usually a size T5. Small-scale growers will be better off with compact fluorescent bulbs.

HPS grow lights are widely used for outdoor area lighting, large grows rooms and greenhouses. These bulbs are probably the most efficient HID bulb one can get, though initially more expensive than CFLs and MHs.

This is ultimately the future of hydroponic lights, whether you want it to be or not. They are also the most controversial grow lights on the market, simply because of how new they are to the growing world. Early adapters a few years back were rather disappointed with the results. Today, this is very different, as some of the best grow lights available are LED.

These lights have great design and also have high PAR value across your canopy. Eco Farm is a relatively new player in the market, but they have come out swinging with this light. Featuring 10W Double Chips, which are brighter more efficient than traditional 3W and 5W LEDs, this lamp is scientifically engineered to keep the balance of the PAR & lumen output and coverage.

Great for grow tents, a room, and greenhouses. This is also a great product for you if you want something that’s easy to install as it comes with everything you need (hangers, cords, carabiners).

CHOOSING THE RIGHT GROW LIGHTS

The main factors to consider when shopping for a grow light system are budget, plant type, enclosure size, and ventilation available.  Other factors, such as electricity cost, upfront costs, amount of use, and the native environment can vary greatly. Speaking to a knowledgeable technician at the local hydroponics store can help save considerable amounts of money, and it helps you increase grow yield in the long run -- a win-win for any grower!
