Can you rosin press fresh bud?

Live resin is a cannabis concentrate. The main difference of this concentrate is that it's made using fresh cannabis flowers instead of buds that have been dried and cured. This makes for a concentrate with a higher concentration of terpenes and more complex aromas/flavours.

Live resin is made using fresh flowers that are flash frozen right after harvest and are kept at freezing temperatures during the entire extraction process.

As the name suggests, this hashish is made from fresh frozen plant material, either trim or buds. Right after the harvest - and without drying it - the plant material is frozen for later processing. This technique presents two main advantages: on one hand, the buds/trim are not crumbled as if they were dried, so less plant debris will contaminate our resin. On the other hand, and since we have not dried the buds, trichomes keep more terpenes and their profile is much closer to the live plant.

How to Tell if Your Rosin Yield is 'Good'?
You can generally tell if your rosin has plant material in it if you see small green specks or by the color and consistency. While it's not necessarily a bad thing to have some plant material in your rosin, those seeking the purest, most potent, and most flavorful dabs are looking for less or none at all. This is why starting with dry sift or water hash is preferred by many rosin makers producing for the commercial market.

All solventless concentrates are judged by a six-star rating system. This includes rosin. When you expose your rosin to heat, it should bubble. The amount of bubbling and residue left behind after heating a dab of rosin indicates the star rating. Leftover plant material is likely to reduce the amount of bubbling, but remember, a little plant material isn't necessarily a deal-breaker.

Why Pressing Rosin From Fresh Bud Is A Bad Idea?
To extract rosin from flower, the flower needs to have a relative humidity between 55% and 62%.

Fresh bud has a much higher humidity level. It contains far too much water. When you press fresh bud, you get a watery mess that’s near impossible to scrape off your parchment paper.

It also smells bad and when trying to dab it, it will sizzle on the nail and have a fresh chlorophyll flavor.

Using filter bags
If you have been watching rosin/press videos on instagram or youtube, you probably seen them pass by: The white filter bags that will be filled with plant material. The rosin press bags come in different sizes and micron sizes (the size of the filter holes), alls for specific use:
37 Micron: Highest level filtration (smallest filter holes), smaller yields but highest quality rosin.
72 Micron: Lower level filtration, Bigger yields then 36 Micron but a little lower quality

Micron bags that are good to use for Flower, trim and shake:
90 Micron: Highest level of filtration for flower, Lower yields but high quality rosin
115 Micron: Lower level filtration for flower, Bigger yields but slightly lower quaity

For fresh, quality material 160-micron bags are ideal. As flower dries and quality decreases, you will also want to decrease in micron size.

Your hash is now ready to become rosin!  We recommend pressing your rosin at between 160°F and 210°F, depending on what you want to achieve. Despite the popular belief that you want to press your hash at the lowest temperature possible, terpenes can be modified at slightly higher temperatures and not necessarily destroyed or harmed. We don’t recommend pressing above 220°F.
